Here's a little CSS fragment that works for me:
- Create a new file
- call something like mystylesheet.css
- Paste this line
div.nH > div.s {display:none !important;}
- Store the file
- Go to Mailplane->Preferences->Tweak UI
- Press the Custom Stylesheet->Choose" button to select the stylesheet
- Restart Mailplane

Disclaimer: This stylesheet may stop working when Gmail changes.

Unfortunately, this sounds like a Gmail lab problem, Mailplane cannot fix
this.
