Mailplane 2.1-beta provides the possibility to use the "Offline Gmail" lab feature. This has been working quite nicely under Tiger and Leopard. However, under Snow Leopard the Google Gears software refuses to load because it cannot be used with 64bit Safari (It's an InputManager and 64bit apps won't load InputManagers). After some tests I found that the Google Gears software would still work with 32bit applications, even with Safari started in 32bit mode. To get it working, I needed to remove the OSX version check from the Google Gears version. I've now used Offline Gmail for more than 72 hours, so far it's working as expected. Here's is the binary download, if you're a Snow Leopard user and want to get your Offline Gmail back: http://mailplaneapp.com/download/google_gears/
Important: Read the download page carefully. This is just an unsupported workaround until an official solution is made available by Google. Use at your own risk.
