I'm experiencing the same problem in Snow Leopard, on both my laptop
and desktop. I'm using Safari as my default browser. As Alan stated,
the problem does not occur when you try to open links in the main
window, but only when you try to load links in a message-only window.
I also experience the same issue he described when switching the "Open
Links..." Preference. Changing the preference does work, but still the
only behavior that works is the one that happens when you're holding
the alt key.
