I'am experiencing the same thing. I have Mailplane set up fro 4 accounts and it "freezes" all the time in the process of sending a message, opening a conversation with several replays or even labeling.
I've tried juggling between accounts and even quitting. Inevitably ends up freezing again. The account for which I noticed the event happing most frequently had the offline mode ON, so I disabled it and now it seems to be working a little better. Me on the other hand, ended up with a major handicap.
