Did you maybe rename/delete a label/folder? I know you said you had not
made new filters, but maybe you modified or deleted one? I have done this
and it can freak out the filters. It amounts to many rules getting set to
"skip inbox" and that is all.

It seems if there is a chance of something in gmail that alters an object
that a filter depends on, the filter can sometimes default to a simple
version of itself that merely skips the inbox. Filters are a weak spot in
gmail if you ask me.

I have a "quick link" ( you can find it in Labs ) set to find "unread"
messages which I poke in on every few days just to be sure nothing is
getting missed since there are no message counts for unread on the "All
Mail" folder. Something like this should do the
search: mailplane://surfbits%40gmail.com/#search/is%3Aunread or just search
on "is:unread" (sans the quotes).

Hope that helps.
