Don't trust it too much. This morning I logged in and I could not see any
email. Google has apparently made some changes. I saw there was a mail
plane update, and updated. Still no go.

It looks like they have fixed the google lab of show chat on right even
when you are using multi-column views. With that change, their css has
changed enough that my css pushed all email off screen somehow. It put the
chat box right of the folders/labels.

I just went into the labs and disabled the show chat on right and all is
well.

For me that works, because my screen is so damn small on a laptop, it would
be miserable to type with something taking up more space on the right.

If you have a larger screen, it would be so much better to have more room
for the chat window.

I will have to see how to alter the css to work around this, but don't
think I can do conditional css to determine if the user has the chat box on
the right or left.

I'm sure you can though, so it may be something to look out for, as it just
bit me and made email entirely unusable. I don't know that most users
would remember to remove their custom css especially if they just copied
and pasted it from somewhere else. If it is hardcoded into the app, there
will be problems until a patch is released. But we always have the native
web browser to fall back on.

Just thought I would point it out as it's probably going to play a role in
how this is approached.
