MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A B.S. in a Computer Science related field or at least 6 years' relevant
experience in the Information Technology industry. Experience must include
at least 6 years of clientserver development on large-scale implementations
with a demonstrated ability to meet requirements established by end-users.
Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service to our client base is
crucial. In-depth knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX, SQR, and Visual Basic 6.0
required. Knowledge of Visual SourceSafe, and Object cycle considered a
plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. At least 3
years of Pharmaceutical industry experience with a background in Contracts,
Government Pricing, Medicaid, and Government Systems is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work in an IT Service & Solutions Delivery
environment. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a Team
environment. Demonstrated ability to lead simple, medium and complex IT
commitments. Knowledge of GSK Tools, Utilities, Products and Applications is
a plus.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Provide application development and support to the Government Contracts and
Pricing

Programs business area. The position requires someone who can quickly grasp
and apply

new technology and mentor team members. The environment is client/server

(UNIX/Oracle/PL/SQL) with Visual Basic as the front-end development
languages.

SOLUTIONS DELIVERY:

Participates in the definition of user requirements and specifications for
intemal GSK clients.

Participates in sizing a solution and contributes to establishing the
detailed project plans and feasibility studies.

Establishes and improves architectural design of applications. Responsible
for the detailed technical design of the software.

Conducts unit, and performance testing of the software and ensures a level
of quality in line with the highest standards.

Participates in the validation / acceptance phase of the product cycle to
ensure necessary fmetuning to finalize the product.

Implements all aspects of solutions including code according to GSK Internal
Standards, Policies and/or agreed Practices.



Maintains a strong level of technical expertise, including leading and
participating in the

software development activity.

Ensures code quality of team members through the Peer Review process.

Writes all functional and technical support documentation necessary for the
application.

Maintains a broad awareness of technology trends, including outside the
domain of the day to day unit.

Maintains a solutions portfolio that demonstrates alignment with GSK
Corporate Policy and direction.

SERVICE MANAGEMENT:

Plans the evolution and improvement of all technical application issues to
ensure software stability, availability and reliability.

Improves technical application issues by updating existing software and
associated support documentation to ensure stability, availability and
reliability.

Demonstrates a degree of urgency and responsiveness to incidents, problems
and client inquiries.

Experience going through internal or external audits a plus.

Some after-hours and weekend application support required.

REPORTING:

Ensures reliable and permanent communication of all issues to hierarchy in
order to inform them about any issues and problems that may arise.

TEAM WORKING:

Motivates, counsels and supports his/her team colleagues, peers and
cross-team members.

Acts as the technical lead of the software application through direct (e.g.
Software Development) and indirect (e.g. Peer Review, supporting
documentation) contributions.
