The Professional Services Consultancy team within Verizon Business is
responsible for engaging the customer to translate project/solution requests
into formal quotations (technical and financial proposals) for the delivery
of the request.
During this process the PS Consultant will discuss with the customer the
functional requirements of the project and translate these into a high-level
design including costs, associated timelines, and any restrictions regarding
the solution. The PS Consultant must adhere to the standards as developed by
Verizon Business for the client, and to the clients own standards &
policies.
The Professional Services Consultancy function involves no hands-on
technical work, requires strong communication skills due to the customer
interfacing and political aspects, and extensive documentation work.
The area of responsibility includes, but is not limited to the global data
networks Intranet, and external firewall environments and other network
based application services.
*Key Responsibilities* :-
The Technical Consultant has the following key responsibilities:
• Perform intakes with project requestor;
• Translate functional solution requirements into high-level designs;
• Assist the customer to understand potential implications of a request and
which solutions could be
offered that best meet the customer's requirements within the guidelines of
the network architecture;
• Write quotations containing the project request, requirements,
constraints, high-level design,
restrictions, hardware and man power costs;
• Interfacing with relationship managers, implementation managers,
coordinators,
customer network engineers and project managers as required to translate a
request into a sound quotation;
• Liaising with the client, IBM or other organisations as required by the
scope of the project;
• Adhere to the standard processes and procedures as defined within Verizon
Business;
*Skills and Competencies:-*
• Experience and understanding of complex, global networks;
• Good understanding of Internet family of protocols with special emphasis
on MPLS/BGP VPNs, BGP,
OSPF etc.
• Complex network infrastructures (Cisco routing and switching, familiar
with level 2 and
level 3 implementations;
• Proven experience with complex WAN and LAN infrastructure;
• Affinity with network protocols as IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL, SMTP,SNMP, DNS
and FTP;
• Experience with firewalls and firewall rules are a must (NAT, Checkpoint,
Juniper-Netscreen);
• Experience with Proxy servers;
• Experience with network based load balancing;
• Extended experience with Internet services such as Internet mail, Web
browsing and Web Hosting;
• Affinity/interest for security issue's concerning network infrastructure;
• At least 4 years experience in designing/implementing network and security
requirements;
*Other key personal qualifications are:*
• Customer focus;
• Able to cope with pressure
• Team player;
• Fluent in English; Dutche a plus
• Flexible;
• Work independently;
• Able to write documentation and communicate effectively with team-members
in a global organization;
• Able to work in a structured manner and according to processes and
procedures;
A successful candidate will be someone that is communicative and comfortable
in a customer facing position. The candidate must have a strong back in a
broad scope of networking ICT infrastructure and be able to aptly translate
high-level customer functional requirements into precise technical
requirements and high level technical solution. The candidate must adhere
strictly to the Verizon Business standards and client standards & policies
and be willing to defend and explain these to the customer even when
pressured to do otherwise to meet the customer's demands. The function is
primarily conceptual, high-level design work not involving any actual
in-depth or hands-on engineering work.
The candidate that is being sought is someone that is available 40 hours a
week.
