Experience leading or mentoring a number of junior developers * * * * *ROLE SUMMARY* The role of a Senior Software Engineer in Professional Services requires solving a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways. Peer/manager reviews exist at this level. The Senior Software Engineer must be able to take ownership of specific complex tasks, and take them to completion. Some of the tasks involved are: 1. Interfacing with Sales for new project requirements. 2. Interfacing with customers for new project requirements. 3. Creation and review of Functional Specifications using Proposal and requirement documentation as input. 1. Ability to design and implement a complex module with minimal supervision or review. 2. Review Design Specifications and code of Level I and II engineers. 3. Create and review Test plans and Testing of large modules and systems. 4. Installation and delivery of customer deliveries on a customer site, and dealing with customer issues. 5. Mentoring and review of more junior engineers. *PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES* 1. Work on multiple problems of diverse scope where refinement of design/requirements will be necessary & is expected to drive resolution of requirements. This involves taking requirements from multiple sources, like customers and equipment vendors, plus planning and delivering the resultant project tasks and deliverables on time and to budget. 2. Produce functional and design specifications and test plans in the course of implementing solutions. 3. Take a leadership role as assigned by the PM or Lead Engineer e.g.leading a team and taking responsibility for delivery of a sub-project or project. 4. Leading a design activity and taking responsibility for design and development of a module or modules. 5. Is proactive in a development team, contributes significantly to the success of the team and able to gain the co-operation of others. 6. Is experienced in a variety of technologies, possibly focusing on a particular expertise. 7. Continues to demonstrate an organised, systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to designing, problem solving, coding and defect fixing. 8. Have excellent oral and written communication skills for effective dialogue with colleagues on a project team and superiors. 9. Continues to develops an appreciation of the wider field of technology outside his/her own specialisation and has developed a good broad understanding of computer system architecture, telecommunications technologies, and telecommunications industry developments and trends. 10.
