*Java Technical Architect*

*Position Summary*

As a Senior Technical Architect, you will be responsible for leading the
analysis, design and development of custom software applications or
integration of off the shelf software to support critical business needs.
You will work closely with Systems Developers, Project Managers, Quality
Assurance Analysts and Business Analysts, and other Architects to
effectively architect and design the systems supported.

The Technical Architect is expected to perform design activities with an
enterprise mindset.  Responsibilities include managing the implementation,
development and maturity of enterprise architecture programs, by
establishing the vision, risks, governance, and strategic objectives tied
to the enterprise direction, managing the complexity of the organization's
inventory, processes, distribution, responsibilities, timing, and
motivations. The enterprise architect will work with a range of people in
the business to lead the creation of a strategic portfolio and facilitate
the development of artifacts.​ These artifacts are used to guide executives
in making informed decisions, reduce redundancies, and maintain the ability
to quickly adapt to future change, fundamentally changing how the
enterprise transforms.​

Other responsibilities include understanding the complex interplay between
mission critical applications, and the underlying architecture of
applications themselves, along with the long term objectives of the
business to ensure technology solutions best fit the long term vision of
the organization.

The Technical Architect will also be involved in organizing the team around
the architecture and should actively contribute to planning activities,
show confidence in setting direction for technical team members, act as a
mentor and coach to the members of their team, and help in hiring and
training of key technical resources of the team. Also, the architect must
be focused on the delivery of tangible results and must act as the driving
force for the project from a technical perspective. An architect must be
able to make decisions (often under pressure), and make sure that those
decisions are communicated, understood, and, ultimately, implemented.  In
addition, the Architect is expected to be well versed in best software
development practices and propagate this knowledge to all development
resources. This person must be a Java expert.





*Experience and Skills:*

·         Worked in an architect role for 2+ years previously.

·         Ten (5+) years experience in software development, systems
implementation, and packaged software integrations.

·         Five (5+) years experience leveraging the J2EE application
development platform including Hibernate, Struts, Spring, JUnit, etc.

·         Required: Two years with primary focus utilizing the tools
below.  Longer if not previous roles’ primary focus.

·         Java/ J2EE

·         Spring

·         Oracle

·         Portlets (JSR-168)

·         Tomcat

·         At least one major client-side JavaScript framework (Angular,
Backbone, Meteor, Bootstrap, etc.)

·         HTML

·         AJAX

·         Able to learn any of the following rapidly but experience
preferred.

·         Liferay

·         Hibernate

·         SQL

·         Cross-browser compatibility web development skills (IE, Firefox,
Safari, Chrome)

·         Responsive Web Design

·         Section 508 compatibility web development skills

·         Ability to effectively communicate to a wide variety of audiences
(both technical and no-technical) using both written and verbal mediums

·         Ability to work collaboratively and make decisions in a
fast-paced team environment

·         Forward thinking approach in partnering with architects on new
technologies and how they might be applied to business needs.

·         Experience working in a variety of project methodologies,
including (agile, waterfall, iterative)

·         Experience working with geographically dispersed resources
preferred

*Education:*

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science or equivalent
combination of education, experience and area of expertise.
