Hi all,
I just discovered mairix last night, and I've gotta tell you, I'm in love. It indexed >400,000 email messages in >7,500 bzip2-compress mbox files in 12 minutes, the index takes up less than 20% of the compressed size of the email, and it takes less than 0.2 seconds to do a search. Holy cow! I'm so impressed that I emoted all about it on my blog at http://blog.kamens.brookline.ma.us/~jik/wordpress/2010/01/08/my-new-favorite -open-source-software-mairix-by-richard-curnow/. Richard really deserves kudos for this great package. (Incidentally, as I note on my blog, I made a few changes to the parsers to handle mbox parsing better, as well as a minor change to allow "+" characters in MIME types. I've already submitted my patches to Richard, but if you'd like them as well, please feel free to email me and I'll send them.) Thanks, Richard! Jonathan Kamens
