Saturday was a beautiful day for sailing in Annapolis, with sunny skies and
temperatures near 80. The wind was light, 3-10 knots from the WNW and a
trapezoid course was sailed in the Severn River right off the Robert Crown
Center. To keep things moving with an odd number of teams, we set up the
rotation to rotate after 5 races per division, so after 5 races in the
morning, the fleet came in for lunch. Five more races were completed in A
division while four more were sailed in B and C before the wind shut off and
the fleet was sent in for the day. With the sailboat show in town on a
gorgeous weekend, the boat traffic was significant and the chop, combined
with the puffy, shifty winds, made for some seriously challenging racing.
The Race Committee, comprised of Dina Kowalyshyn, CAPT Richard Morin (Ret.),
Rod Mincher, LT Ben Herring and a team of Midshipmen ran some great races
and Judges Herb Larrabee and Scott Kirwin heard one protest, resulting in
Brown receiving a DSQ in race 7A.

Racing continues tomorrow. Complete results can be found here:
