Hi Joe,

Just to clarify then:

In the Options -> Ports dialog, there you find the complete list of ports and you can select whether QWS will interact with this port. The "Use this port" checkbox for *every* port is whether QWS will make use of this port. it does not set the default.

To set the default port that QWS will use when creating or loading a track, go into Options -> General Options. There you will find a list called Preferred MIDI device. This is probably still set to the Microsoft GS in your case.

The other thing to add is that when you save a MIDI file, QWS will save away which ports you have selected for each track.

I hope this helps.

With best regards,

James.

Subject: QWS List use this port

Hi,

After going to the Options menu and selecting Port, I locate the port I wish to be the default. I go to the box and check that this is indeed my default port.

I open a file and it plays in GS Wavetable.

The only way to play it properly is to select each track and set its port to the default.

Instead, shouldn't the file automatically play using my checked, default port?

Thanks for your thoughts.
