Hello David.
This dropbox is specifically for owners of the Roland FA-06 or FA-08. Not strictly QWS-related. If you are the owner of the aforementioned keyboard, get in-touch with me off-list, as there's also another email list I set up for VI users to share tips and tricks etc.
Thanks.

Thanks!,
David

You need to make your own studio-set or sets with things you personally like on every channel. For me, I use channel 15 for metronome, and all my custom studio sets have channel 15 as a metronome. Failing that, for the quick method, make a midi file simply called metronome.mid and any time you change studio sets outside of QWS, run that file, tell QWS to play it and job done. My metronome uses the GM2 kit with 127 volume, 0 reverb, 0 chorus, 64 pan. That's program/patch 0, bank 15360. I also use key 34 (a#) for the first note, and key 33 (a) for the other notes, all at 127. That means that even during extra-loud pieces, the metronome cuts through the piece adequately. You might even find someone else's metronome.mid in the FA dropbox folder, that sets up the channel and other attributes for you. Do this, and your life is infinitely better. Using channel 10 for a metronome when you're going to be using that channel for midi-work is folly anyway. It's ever-changing, every drum kit is different, and will just cause you no end of aggravation and that's just not conducive to a good, productive working environment. Easy to fix, easy to implement.

Subject: QWS List still having troubles with the metronome sound

Hi there. I tried to change the metronome sound to something I can actually deal with and it seems that whenever I create a new project, it changes to
something different which is driving me nuts.

Here's what I did.

I went to metronome options and noticed that the metronome was on channel 10
which I guess is for drums.

I also learned that when my keyboard is in DAW mode, instead of going
through the list of patches with the computer, you can use the bank buttons
and dial to find sounds and it will update that info on the pc which is
pretty cool.

So anyway, I found a drum sound on my keyboard that I could use for a
metronome sound, hit the keys that I wanted for the two values and hit
enter.

The next time I opened qws and inserted a track, when I hit record, the
metronome sound is totally different so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks for any further help with this problem.

Scott
