I believe this implies that you're running an old version of cygwin.
Probably you're using some embedded toolchain that supplies cygwin-based
gcc/gdb/binutils? If so, please run
cygcheck -s -v -r > cygcheck.out
and attach the generated file "cygcheck.out" with your next post to the list;
that will let us see if there are problems in your cygwin configuration.
