Bugs will be fixed and compatibility improved, but I would like to avoid new features. If you want to add something to MakeMaker, consider instead working on Module::Build, MakeMaker's heir apparent. I will accept a full and complete patch [1] to implement generic install targets. This means docs, tests and portability to non-Unix platforms including VMS. It is Not Easy.
