I need to set up mantisbt in a development environment, I obtained the tarball
for mantisbt-1.1.6.tar.gz and moved it via mv to the directory where we want
the install to occour. Upon decompressing and running ls -al I get the
following permissions on the subsequent directory and the files below it.

drwxrwxr-x 11 1000 itsecurity 12288 Dec 9 13:40 mantisdirectory

(Names changed to protect the innocent).

Is there any reason I should not change the ownership of the directory and the
folders underneath it to the user Apache runs as?

Kindest regards.
