Thanks Victor. It seems to have worked, without disrupting anything else -
I saw that in the config_defaults_inc.php before I posted the question. Should
have tried updating it in my config_inc.php first.

I suspect it has already been like this. Try explicitly setting
$g_path in your config_inc.php and let me know if it works.
