Philip Hardie has done the new Greece and Rome "New Surveys in the
Classics" volume on Vergil ("Virgil").  It looks like a clear, fair,
extremely learned and useful discussion of key issues in the study of V. in
the last 30 years.  And I just got an ad saying it's only $12.95 US or 7
pounds.  It's 126 pages, paperback, and you really get a lot for your
