Okay, so you went with <externalGraphic> borrowing from SLD I assume. In that case, why not just use <img> from XTHML or <image> from SVG (probably SVG is a better choice being a vector drawing language)?
So something like this:<svg:image x="100" y="50" width="32" height="32" xlink:href="http://www.mapbuzz.com/image/marker.png"/>
