Derrick I don't know if it is any live versions availlable yet, but among the alternatives evaluated is some MapCSS, OpenSeaMap base map layer.
There will be a world wide coverage with focus on marine nautical maps. Colorado is maybe too far from any marine infrastructure, and no definite decission are made yet See http://www.openseamap.org for more information. Current base map is OpenStreetMap-Mapnik, and overlay is custom proprietary special purpose. I am advocating MapCSS in the process though other candidates at the moment includes smrender and a new dedicated mapnik.
