Hello, In a SQLServer provider's case, for example, you have to create a database (not an instance) with the Map3D. It is called a "data store". It contains schemas, feature classes (= tables), and properties (= columns).
After defining a data store, you can connect with it. While connecting, you can save polygons on it using the Map3D. To save them, you cannot use a "File" menu but can use a Map Explorer. Sorry I cannot explain details because I cannot use the Map3D now.
