The webconfig.ini configuration file on the web tier contains settings
for WfsPassword and WmsPassword. They default to "wfs" and "wms"
respectively. When a WFS or WMS request is made to the map agent, it
uses the appropriate user (either WfsUser or WmsUser), along with the
configured password, in order to authenticate with the server.

The server should have the two users configured appropriately. The
passwords can be set through the admin interface, and a reboot may be
required in order to synchronize them between the server and web tier.

Also, if a WFS request is not formed correctly, it may not be recognized
as a WFS request at all, in which case the default user will not be used
and you'll get prompted for authentication. In a case like this, the
request typically fails even if you enter a valid username and password.

Can you give details of the WFS request you're sending?

Chris.

I did because I didn't know what that password was and I thought maybe I
needed to use that login but that doesn't seem to work either.

I'll change it back to the default if some can tell me what that is
supposed to be. However I don't think it will solve my problem, as I
was being prompted before I changed it.

Have you changed the password for the default WFS user?

Has anyone else run into a problem with WFS requests being prompted for
a username and password? If so is there a fix?

My requests to the WMS service work fine. I'm also having problems with
WMS not being projected correctly when consumed by another MGOS server,
but that's for another post. I really need to get the WFS password
thing figured out.

I'm running .net, windows server 2003, IIS.
