It's likely failing to match the font used for the labels. For example if it is set to Arial and the Linux box doesn't have that font, it may match with some other font -- and the matching is not always perfect. One solution is to install the right fonts on the Linux box, another is to explicitly specify fonts that are available on Ubuntu in the layer definition. Traian
