The API is very close to being equvalent in all three supported languages.
It should not cause you much trouble to convert from PHP/.Net to Java.

I have not used the JSP extensions, but I have a sense that the PHP extensions are more "natural" than the .Net extensions.

Hi,

I'm new to MapGuide and indeed to GIS. I'm trying to follow the Getting Started guide and I wonder if you can give me any guidance on the development language to choose. I know a bit of PHP and a lot of Java, but I was wondering if choosing java would cause me problems in terms of running sample applications and getting support.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
