Printed editions, held in Map Room of Royal Geographical Society (with
Institute of British Geographers), of the Geography/Cosmography of
Ptolemy with manuscript annotations (1478 to 1605 only here). Since my
last expansion of this list (see note at bottom) I have tried last year
(2009) - with references kindly provided by Prof. Marica Milanesi - to
confirm whether the Magini signature on the Strassburg 1525 edition
(shelf-mark 262.H.10 exemplar) is his autograph or not; the question
remains unresolved, so I offer this listing ‘as is’. The nature of
some comments makes it ‘typical’ of the compiler (you have been
warned). Feel free to forward to Renaissance Studies, or Ex-libris,
etc., discussion lists.

After its initial compilation I offered this listing to Dr Zur Shalev -
organizer of a London Conference/Symposium on Ptolemy (which I was
unable to attend) - to make use of for the eventual expected published
proceedings of that conference. But, having checked this morning on his
personal web-site’s ‘cv’ - last updated to April 2006 [sic], I can
find no mention of a publication. ‘Intellectual’ access to the items
is via the website [www.rgs.org - then ‘Our Work’ (top menu) +
‘Collections’ (left menu) or direct to ‘Search our catalogue’ (home
page, left menu)]. For ‘physical’ access in the (since June 2004)
centralised Collections’ consultation space - the Foyle Reading Room -
e-mail any further questions, or book visits, to [email protected]
