Dear All,

Apologies for cross-posting

CLOSURE OF THE NEW BODLEIAN READING ROOM - relocation of the Map Reading
Room Over the course of the summer, the Map, Music and Oriental services
will be relocated in anticipation of the major refurbishment of the New
Bodleian Library building, due to take place over the next five years.

Maps reference material will be moved to Duke Humfrey's Library in the
Old Bodleian over the course of the next few weeks. The New Bodleian
Reading Room is expected to close on Friday 10th September* and the move
will be completed in the week beginning 13th September*, during which
time Duke Humfrey's Library will also need to be closed for a period and
the Map open shelf collections will be unavailable.

>From Monday 20th September*, all Map material currently read in the NBRR
will need to be ordered to and read in Duke Humfrey's Library.

The gradual movement of Maps open-shelf material should help to minimise
the period during which the reading rooms will be closed entirely but
will mean that, for a period of some weeks, readers visiting the Library
may have to use two reading rooms in order to consult the material they
need. Library staff will endeavour to keep OLIS updated with the latest
location information but it is recommended that readers contact Library
staff in advance of their visit for advice.

Special Collections

Readers wishing to consult manuscript Maps and rare atlases will
continue to be directed to the temporary Special Collections Reading
Room at the Radcliffe Science Library.

*These dates are subject to confirmation.

Further Information

More information will be posted on the Library's webpages as it becomes
available. If you have further questions about the moves and their
impact on services, please contact Library staff as follows:

The Library apologises for the inconvenience this will undoubtedly cause
and would be grateful for patience and understanding on the part of
readers during this difficult time of major upheaval.

With best wishes,
Nick
