This is the reason there is no plumbing at all in our ten-storey stack building where all library materials (books, maps, manuscripts, photographs, etc.) are kept.

This will certainly lead to an investigation and report, and will no doubt
find its way into the literature. Will be interesting to read.

Fine Hall basement remains closed after broken pipe causes flooding,
disrupted classes

"A sprinkler pipe burst in the basement of Fine Hall early Tuesday morning,
spilling water across the basements of four buildings, disrupting classes
and soaking library books and maps ...

"The geoscience and map library collection on the B-floor of Fine Hall was
also flooded, and some books and maps got wet. The map collection “is one of
the largest cartographic collections at an academic institution” and
contains 300,000 maps and charts, according to the library’s website.

Books and other library materials that were damaged were moved to a
refrigerated truck overnight to ensure the safety of the materials."

Others will know better than I whether the damage might have affected
non-current maps as well.
