software has to specially written to use dual CPU processing. The problem
lies in the fact that the two processors can not talk during the process of
single instructions. This means that the output of one processor can not
conflict with the output of the other. I believe we will never see a mapinfo
professional product that will support dual processing because of the
complete re-write of the code, required to gain advantage of dual CPUs, on
top of the basic re-write that MIpro already deserves.

If you are interested in dual processing in GIS then do a search on research
papers by Paul Densham, of UCL, (ac.uk)
