Assuming each polygon is a separate record you can simply assign the
centroid coordinates to a field (eg:Xcoord,Ycoord.) using Table-Update
Column with centroidX, centroidY functions (use the 'set coordsys table
YourTableName' statement from a mapbasic window before assigning the
centroids or they will appear in Lat/Long). Then close the file, delete
or rename the .map file. Re-open the .tab file which should then have no
map associated and create points based on centroid coordinates.
