I've had this problem before but never had a satisfactory answer from anyone
(users & MapInfo tech.).  What I have found out is that if you set the scale
in the layout to 1:1001 or if it's 1:500 set it to 1:501 it will normally
come come out near enough as makes no difference.  Also remember that if
your base maps are digitised at, for instance, 1:1250 each line on the page
will equal 0.5 metres on the ground so printing at 1:1000 and loosing 1 mm
should not be too much of a problem, however annoying. You should also look
at the type of paper your using (stretch is a factor) and the humidity in
the office environment - this is particularly relevant when printing on
negatives.

i've prepared a layout i've printed a 1:1000 scale map with a HP 670C
printer and it is fine.
two points with known location has 10 cm distance on paper and 100 meter on
map
 
i didn't changed anything and printed again with the same printer
AMAZING same two points with 100 meter distance on map has 9.9 cm distance
on paper and the scale is 1:1000
 
is there anybody who can say what is the reason for this kind of problems
MapInfo or Windows or Driver or Printer or  X ?
