Dear Grant,
You may wish to check out EverName from EverMap, distributed by MapCentric.
EverName is a labelling optimisation tool to ensure accurate and effective
placement of text labels.
Once installed it becomes a integral part of MapInfo Professional and
provides a flexible and easy-to-use interface, for the optimisation of
labelling of the point-like and polygon-like features on the map. EverName
optimises label positions based on user-defined rules, label priority, text
size and is able to produce output with minimum number of overlaps between
labels.

For more information, please refer to our website www.mapcentric.co.uk where
there is also a link to download an EverName eval. If you have any
questions, please let me know and I'll do my best to help or put you in
touch with a local reseller. The product costs £145.

Best Regards,

Kirsten Burrows
Channel Manager.

Subject: MI MapInfo Labelling

Hello all,

You know when you have created a map and you have to
move about the labels so that you can see them all
clearly? You save your workspace, and all the custom
label positions have been saved. Then you have to
delete a record from the table and pack it.
When you open up your workspace again, the labels have
all gone to pot because of the way the workspace
stores the labelling attributes, (to row and not by
object).
Does anyone know of a tool that recreates those
painstaking labelling exercises once you have packed
your table? Or a packing tool that doesn't cause this
problem in the first place?
"Not packing a table" is not an answer I am looking
for.

I usually just edit the workspace in excel or
something, but I am getting bored of doing this.

Grant
