Hello Tim

I has some discussions with Dimitri from Manifold (Check
comp.infosystems.gis at www.deja.com) about one-two month ago about whether
or not Manifold 4.5 (current version) could work with big datasets. His
definition of a big dataset is something which doesn't fit into memory. Be
prepared for a very low limit - it is not easy to say how low the limit is,
as attribute data seems to count to the total.

I made some comparisons with a few datasets in Mapinfo, ArcView and
Manifold. You can find it at www.routeware.dk/comparison.xls. After that I
stopped testing Manifold anymore.

He keept on insisting that you should just buy more RAM. In my case I would
probably have needed 1-2 GB RAM, so Manifold GIS is now sitting happily on
the shelf in my office.
