I just wonder, if they did a jump from 3 to 8, why not do the right jump and call it 
"2000". According to Bill Huber the news are as follows:

"The first is that ArcView will change dramatically. The second is that it will not 
change at all. "

My reading is that everything that was written in Avenue (and AML, and it is a lot) 
can be "toiletted" - except you want to keep going with the old ugly stuff forever ... 
But there are still people using PC Arc/Info out there, and ESRI, last November in 
Munich, announced even a new version of PC Arc/Info ... (DOS screen in light grey 
instead of black ???). So, why not go for that ... But I'd really like a green DOS 
window, however, as far as I know, Fortran does not support green ...
