I am receiving GPS data collected with a Trimble TSC1 receiver which has
been translated to Mapinfo. There are questions regarding the
adjustment to NAD83. Here's what I was told is happening.

The Trimble data is downloaded to the associated Pathfinder software.
>From Pathfinder it is exported to a .mif file with an option to make it
NAD83. The .mif is then imported to Mapinfo. Checking the coordinate
system through the use of the Map-Options-Projection dialog it is
reported the data is simple latitude-longitude. To ensure it is truly
NAD83 the map is saved with the NAD83 option then re-opened.

The question is this: shouldn't MI report back that the imported .mif
data is already adjusted to NAD83? If it is, but not reported that way,
then by saving it to NAD83 is there the possibility of cumulative
errors?
