This answer goes to both Ken and Evan: For combining objects, you can use the objects > combine command.
For splitting objects, you can use the objects > disaggregate command, which is available in MapInfo 6.5, but not in older versions. If you have an older version, you can use ToolBox (www.routeware.dk) for disaggregating. MapInfo's version has more options for defining the process. Ken would have to first combine and then disaggregate, while Evan would have to just disaggregate.
