Iain, Rather than using Notebook or Wordpad to edit your workpsaces, try using TextPad instead. This is a shareware program that I find much better than the text editors supplied by Microsoft. One of the features it has is the ability to display the line numbers in a text file.
Therefore it would be very easy to go find line 437. It has lots of other neat features too, such as workspaces, a macro ability, spell check, block select (which enables you to select as a column in a text file), it appears as an item in context menus, the list goes on. It can be downloaded from www.textpad.com Try it - it's great. It is very hard to count to line 437 at 5pm on a Friday, without falling asleep!!!
