This is because MapInfo 6.5 stores certain things in a different
location to MapInfo 6.0.

The new location (in Windows 2000) is C:\Documents and
Settings\'username'\Application
Data\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\650\CustSymb

Put them there are they will appear in MapInfo.

I don't know about Windows 98 etc but presumably there is a similar
deal.

Subject: MI-L MapInfo 6.5 & Custom Symbols

Well here is a baffling one for the creative...

I have created a couple of custom symbols and followed everything to the
"T" on how to make them and they show up wonderfully well in MI 6.0, but
when I try to use them in 6.5, guess what...they are not there. I have
tried reload. I have tried rebooting. I have tried copying the
custsymb directory to where MI 6.5 is installed and now I have run out
of ideas! Has MI 6.5 changed the specs on what bitmaps it likes?

Is there a maximum amount of custom symbols you can have in 6.5?

The bitmaps are as follows:

32x32 ; 8Bit ; 256 colours ; 2kb size ; 150 dpi

Thanks for your help!

Cheers,

Jeffrey Van Etten
