I would like to calculate the area of several polygons which are in Lat/Long Nad83 system and range in size from small islands to much larger areas. I recall others indicating they came across discrepancies with MapInfo's area calculation. I checked out the MI-L archives concerning area calculations but did not find many answers. I was wondering how accurate is MapInfo's calculation of area? Is it best to calculate areas using the cartesian or spherical setting?
