Jacques of Paris PC Consult has been kind enough to post an application I
have created for MapInfo's MapMarker on his web site www.paris-pc-gis.com
<http://www.paris-pc-gis.com> This application is an adeptation of the open
source code that comes with MapMarker. It will take a batch of addresses
from a text file and geocode them in MapInfo yet it uses MapMarkers drivers
and Address Library through an API call to MapMarkers Geocoding engine. It
keeps me from having to create a table in MapInfo, register it, save it,
close it, then go into MapMarker to Geocode it, then open it back up in
MapInfo to run queries on it. It is tied to some address cleansing software
which is US specific so you will need to modify the code if you are in the
UK, or Canada, or do not have that application on your machine. This was not
a from scratch application I simply modified the MapMarker code to run
batches of addresses because a single address locator is not usefull to me.
Hopefully if someone else out there is trying to do the same thing this will
provide some insight into how to do it. I used the MapBasic API although
there is also one provided by MapMarker in C. The application and all
relevant code to it is in a .zip file on Jacques's site under "Files from
other Origins" Many thanks should go to Jacques for not only hosting this
but also in helping me get it ready to put out for public use.
