Doug,

I have them, but I don't have a 5 1/4 inch drive in house. Give me a call.

Subject: MI-L I am looking for the MapInfo DOS v5.0 Drivers Disk 1.

I am looking for the MapInfo DOS v5.0 Drivers Disk 1. I have a registered
copy of MI 5 DOS, but a virus has destroyed one file "MAPINFO.XYZ " on Disk
1 of 2 of the Drivers Disk set. I emailed Support at MapInfo to get a copy
of the effected file, but they indicated that the program was too old to be
supported.

The two 5 1/4 Floppies contain a spanned zip file. Floppy 1 of 2 contains
these five files:

MAPINFO.10 1 kb 6/4/1991 10:59 AM
MAPINFO.11 1 kb 6/4/1991 10:59 AM
MAPINFO.90 1 kb 6/4/1991 10:59 AM
MAPINFO.100 1 kb 6/4/1991 10:59 AM
MAPINFO.XYZ 366 kb 6/4/1991 10:59 AM

The 366 kb file was destroyed. It is the first part of the spanned zip
file.

Floppy 2 of 2 contains the file:

DRIVERS.ZIP 354 kb 6/3/1991 8:33 PM

This file is the second part of the spanned zip file and it is intact.

When I try opening this ZIP file with WinZip 8, I get the error message
"Please insert the last disk of the multivolume set and click Ok to
continue". When I try opening the Zip file with the PKUnzip file that comes
with MI DOS, it tells me to fix it with PKZipFix and will not proceed. I
suspect that if I even had the 1991 version of PKZipFix,I would get
additional info that points to the corrupted file on disk 1. Also, this file
may only contain the drivers while the corrupted file on disk 1 contains the
code that allows MI DOS to build the CGI.CFG file.

I need to find a copy of the corrupted file in order to set up the hardware
configuration file CGI.CFG (Computer Graphics Interface.Configuration). When
MI 5.0 DOS is started, MI calls on this file for device driver information.
According to the manual, CGI.CFG contains instructions on how to load
drivers for input. output, printer, metadata, and plotter. I would try to
build a CGI.CFG file by hand with a text editor if I knew how it was
constructed. I do know that it has to be in "MI \DRIVERS\" or the
autoexec.bat file must contain the environment variable "SET CGIPATH="
pointing to the DRIVERS directory on the hard drive. This is in the owners
manual. Unfortunately, the owners manual does not contain information on
what the file should look like.

If you have a copy of this file (MAPINFO.XYZ 366 kb) or know where I may
get it, I will surely appreciate your help. If you have an older or newer
version (e.g. 4.5 or 5.5) of MI DOS with a drivers disk set, that also may
work! If you know how the CGI.CFG file is supposed to look, that would be
helpful. Thanks.
