heya, whenever i create a workspace i edit it in notepad to get rid of the absolute path naming conventions so that the path is relative to the location of the workspace. then when i edit it in mapinfo again, it saves over what i did before. is there any way to get mapinfo to save relative paths rather than absolute? even saving full network addresses rather than drive and directory names would be a start. eg. my computer has saved the table in the workspace as: "Z:\Maps\Map.tab" someone from a different dept with different drive mapping has it located at: \\Users\ash\GPS\Stuff\Maps\Map.tab <file://\\Users\ash\GPS\Stuff\Maps\Map.tab> so it gives an error on opening the workspace because the file is on Z drive, which is something different for them. rather than absolute paths, i tend to have the paths named relative to the location of the workspace, so that even if the entire contents are copied across to another drive, it still works. but then when someone else edit's something it doesn't werk for anyone else, so i have to go and fix the dam thing. gramercy ash
