Hello All,
I am running a Compaq EVO Laptop (1.1 GHz with 256M RAM), Windows 2000,
MapInfo 6.5 on a NT Network plotting to a HP 800ps 42" Plotter.
MapInfo/StreetInfo/AutoCAD plots work fine with this combination.
I have imported 4 MrSid Raster Images using the MrSid tool available on
the MapInfo CD. I create a new Layout Window and get the plot just the
way I want it on an "E" size plot. If I plot through our NT Print
server, the plotter hangs about 25% through the plot. If I plot
directly the the plotter's IP address the plot hangs about 80% of the
way through the job. Both ways, my Laptop shows that the entire job was
spooled to the plotter.
If I plot to a file (17 MB) and view the file with Image Alchemy, the
entire plot is in the file and it looks fine. I even copied this file
to another machine and tried sending the plot with a DOS copy to LPT1
and with Image Alchemy through the Parallel port. Both hang around 80%
complete.
What is interesting is by hanging, I mean that the plotter stops
plotting and the print head goes all the way off the page (to either
left or right side of plotter) and then just moves about 2 inches and
then goes back to the side of the machine. It will do this for several
hours before I give up and have to power-cycle the machine to get it to
respond to keypad commands.
I would really appreciate some hints as to how to get this plot to work.
I tried making the plot as small as possible but the plotter act the
same. Other people have sent larger plots to this plotter (before and
after my attempts) and the plotter seems to be fine. It seems like it
is an issue with MapInfo and MrSid images.
We have an older HP750 Plotter that I am going to try sending the file
to today. If that doesn't work, can somebody recommend a a company that
I can send the plot file to so they can print it for me?
Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions,
John
