Open, unsaved tables are a problem, as well as a large number of open tables, close out all queries before saving. I have also noticed if there is a selection open that joins 2 tables, I have had same problem. Avoid leaving edits ongoing in several tables. Therefore, before hitting save, go to File, Close Table and see what's there you don't need opened. I am not sure if this factors in, but I have had this problem and tried packing the table occasionally when doing a large amount of record deletions or combining of objects. Since I don't know the exact workings of MI, some of these suggestions maybe more related to good mojo and the shaking of blood on the cpu with a chicken's foot.
