1. HOW TO GO ON VACATION WITHOUT BEING ANNOYING
Setting your mail handler to post "Out of Office" notices when you go on vacation
results in very annoying behavior when you are subscribed to a mailing list.
Basically, everyone who posts to the lists gets your notice every time they send a
message. Quite annoying. The prefered method for vacationers is just to unsubscribe
from the list, then resubscribe when you return.
When you're ready to go on vacation and unsubscribe from the list, take note of the
message number from the last post you received. This number is located in the header
and at the bottom of each message. If you don't see it at the bottom of the message
body, look at the first line in the email headers--it's the number right before your
email address. When you get back from vacation resubscribe yourself. Wait for a new
message to come in then take note of the message number. Now you have a range--the
message number before you left and when you returned. Plug the range into the EZMLM
"get" command (assuming you missed messages 2100 through 2200):
