I too have had difficulties with the BUILDSQL tool. I have used the
following workaround to get the required query strings and connection
strings. Use File Menu > Open ODBC Table... to create a TAB file that
accesses data using an ODBC link. Then open the TAB file in a text editor.

You will find the query string prefaced with:
"\DATALINK\Query" =
You will find the query string prefaced with:
"\DATALINK\ConnectionString" =

These strings can be used with the MapBasic statement "Server Link Table",
to create an ODBC link.

MI-L Problem Building SQL on Access database=20
Author: Caroline Hilton (212.67.98.---)

I am having trouble building queries on ODBC links, and I wonder if =
anyone=20
can shed any light on this for me?=20

Having gone through the setup for ODBC, making the table containing the=20
coordinates mappable etc, and opening it in MapInfo, I am trying to use =
the=20
BuildSQL tool which comes with MI. The trouble is, whenever I click on =
the=20
'tables' button which should list the tables in the database, I am =
presented=20
with=20
'`000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000`.`Al=
ter=20
ation`' instead of what I assume should be 'database_name.alteration' =
(where=20
the alteration is the table I'm trying to select from). This has =
happened=20
with all of the database files I've tried to link to, and obviously when =
the=20
SQL is built using this it gives an error when executed.=20

Anyone seen it before?=20

cheers=20
