Greetings,

ADRG is actually an acronym for Arc Digitized Raster Graphic. It
appears from the description that Steve gives, his co-worker has all the
files necessary for a ADRG Distribution Rectangle (DR)...Here is a
breakdown of the file acronyms:

For each DR, the following files are included:

1. Transmittal Header File (THF);

2. General Information File (GEN);

3. Source Information Files (SOU); and

4. Quality Information File (QAL);

5. A reduced resolution Overview image file (OVR);

6. One or more raw raster image data file (IMG).

ADRGs were distributed by tape or CDROM...each CDROM containing at least
1 DR. I can remember many moons ago using a package called NIMAMUSE
that actually had source code for working with all the NIMA formats.
There was a neat little command-line executable called importer.exe that
would allow export of ADRG to your choice of raster...I remember this
because I built a VB utility to auto-populate a Powerpoint file with
maps based upon geographic locations...saved alot of chart-cutting and
of coursed saved money...more importantly - raised my performance rating
that year ;^)

A good place to start more research is at:

Steve

Buck, you and some of the others still working this stuff can either
back me up or correct me.....

But, if memory is correct, ADRG is the acronym for Air Defense Raster
Graphic, the digital form of the old JOGAs, probably at 250K scale.

Might want to see if NIMA will assist.
