Try laying the map out in a graphics program like Adobe Illustrator. The graphics environment will, overall, offer you a much much better cartographic environment and with MAPublisher (www.mapublisher.com) the transfer of data from MapInfo to Illustrator is seamless. -- Ted Florence [EMAIL PROTECTED] Miles, i am not aware of anything freely available for rejigging the legend of thematic layers but if you can set up the table to 'permanently' have the desired colours/ patterns etc i wrote a program called qik_key.mbx (on the directions mag site) to do 'non standard' legends ... its a bit old now and could do with a rewrite but it might be of use to you...i will also take a look at perhaps making it use themtic layers as well..... Russel Lawley Quick & Dirty: Create four legend objects (with the whole legend at a time) in the layout window. Then resize them and use invisible (i.e.: white) rectangles to hide parts of the legend.
