Symptom:

MapInfo Professional crashes when printing. Normally these maps have raster
images and can be large.

Problem:

This problem is caused by the Microsoft Print Spooler Service running out of
resource. The print spooler seems to spool the initial job directly to
physical memory, when you run out of memory then the software crashes.
Because raster images with other layers can generate large print files, you
can run out of memory.

Solution:

1) Use lower resolution imagery, or
2) Use a smaller area, or
3) Print from a Windows 95 PC, or
4) Increase the physical resources (RAM) in your PC, or
5) Shutdown non essential services on your PC (to free physical
resources).

NOTES:

This can happen with any application, it is not just a MapInfo Problem. I
haven't looked into how the print spooler handles multiple pages, but I
would have thought it would only need to spool each individual page to
memory.
