Current MapBasic MBXs can easily be reversed engineered too!! I know of at least one MapInfo Partner that has a MapBasic decompiler that you can 'borrow' if you lose the source code to your MBX. I guess the best way to protect your 'business logic' is to use a mixture of managed (.NET assembly)/unmanaged code (Win32 DLLs).
